Blair is a versatile and accomplished stage and screen actor with 36 years’ experience.  He is a dedicated and reliable performer with a keen sense of comic timing – honed by years of work, beginning with 20 years of productions at York Theatre Royal , Sheffield Crucible and Hull Truck Theatre. He soon progressed to screen work in Northern Soaps.  Emmerdale as a dislikable Brewery manager and in Coronation Street as a disgruntled and cynical Detective Inspector, for two years a piece.

Touring for 5 years with Peter Woodward and Kate O’Mara’s British Actor’s Theatre Company in predominantly Shakespearian work then brought him to London and other opportunities in TV and the West End.

Blair performed in the Olivier Award winning production of The Railway Children at Waterloo and King’s Cross Stations for 4 years.  His versatility has seen him in roles as diverse as Oliver Hardy, The Professor in Ladykillers at Vaudeville Theatre, a child psychologist in My Parents are Aliens, The Sooty Show, the commander of a Parisienne women’s prison with Jean Reno in Jo.  His most recognizable TV persona being the owner of Lucky the Dog in 4 years of the More than adverts for Royal SunAlliance.

Blair is an advanced motorcyclist and driver, often enjoying European Adventure touring and riding, without any hint of a mid-life crisis.  He has an allotment and a motor cruiser on the Thames.  His daughter is also an actor, soon to graduate from Mountview Theatre School.
